So
I grabbed an "axe" (metaphorically speaking), and "hacked
out" all the dead wood in my life right then and there. I even
remember feeling a little sad that I had to do it... to move on, but
the experience was cathartic.
Getting
rid of "dead wood" makes room for new and wonderful growth.

STIMULUS:
Certainly, if they could only see what a wonderful Soul I am
they would not be so awful.
RESPONSE: In fact, I'm quite sure they see what a wonderful
soul you are. However, you are assuming that seeing your wonderfulness
would change the essence of who THEY are. Not usually the case. Don't
mistake THEIR behaviors as being caused by something in you. They are
responsible for what they do.
I
will add one bit of advice regarding people: they are projections of
ourselves and our focus. If you are focusing on what's wrong with them
then they will behave more and more 'wrongly'. If you are focused on
yourself as being the impetus behind their 'wrong' behavior, then you
will always be on the receiving end of 'wrong' behavior because that's
what you have come to believe you are worthy of. Get my drift?
Taking
a hatchet to unhealthy relationships is the best and quickest way to
get on the path that we'd rather be on. Not only would 'letting go'
of unhealthy people do wonders for your self-esteem, but it would also
make room for wonderful new growth.
