The What and Why of 'Fresh Thought'
Welcome to the first edition of Fresh Thought, where we will dare to take a look at age old life challenges and issues with a "fresh" set of *mind*.

Fresh thought is based on the premise that solutions to life challenges are indeed available if and when we *look* for them. We are simply far more practiced, and comfortable, at looking for, and finding problems.

Whether the issue is peace in the Middle East (or at home), finding cures for cancer or AIDS, or realizing personal dreams, fresh thought helps us see things differently, allowing different choices to be made, which lead to different actions.

Fresh thought supports new approaches to old issues, that allow "winners" to emerge from both sides of a conflict or dispute, and healing to occur without having to file for spiritual or financial bankruptsy.

Fresh thought respects religion, but is not a religion, nor does it seek to be. It can apply to the reverent and irreverent amongst us. Fresh Thought goes better with joy, and is supportive of all language and terminology that make positive, mutually beneficial outcomes possible: you for you, me for me, and us for each other.

What is Fresh Thought About?
Life Transformation: *The* Reason For Fresh Thought
One particular meaning of the word "Transformation" is of central importance to the call for Fresh Thought.

According to Merriam-Websters Collegieate® Dictionary (www.m-w.com), "transformation" is the operation of changing (as by rotation or mapping) one configuration or expression into another in accordance with a mathematical rule; especially : a change of variables or coordinates in which a function of new variables or coordinates is substituted for each original variable or coordinate.

In the Fresh Thought context, transformation refers specifically to changing the configuration of one's life in accordance with a set of "rules" that can be applied against certain variables to affect, with equal certitude, a different (better) experiential outcome.

The variables that affect how, or whether we transform our life experiences are: beliefs, attitudes, choices, actions, and *motive*.

What distinguishes transformation is that the benefit derived therefrom is not limited to the creator. It affects others who are *open*--by giving due respect to the possibility and aided by supporting action--to experiencing an improvement in the quality of their own experience.

Tranformation and Fresh Thought
 Philanthropic Organization that Empowers Kindness
There's little argument that it's a good thing to be kind. The kind acts of strangers in times of need tend to maintain a sacred part of our memory for the rest of our lives. Indeed, kind acts that people have made on our behalf may actually change how we see the world, and our place within it.

That is why a fresh thinker by the name of Will Higgins created WillFund, a philanthropic organization based in Hermosa Beach, CA that was launched in April 2002. WillFund is dedicated to promoting kindness awareness, and encouraging kind action.

In this time of war rhetoric, terrorism, and vengeance seeking, "kindness speak" goes against the grain of today's "conventional wisdom." Yet, look at the alternative: fear, destruction, escalated antagonism, and more fear... and more terror. It takes fearlessness to show kindness to fearful people. That's why it is a Fresh Thought.

Check out WillFund's "Token of Kindness" project. Perhaps you can help it expand. You can contact Will via email at willhigginsjr@yahoo.com.

Kindness will always be "fresh."

'Pint Sized' Existentialism in I Am My Body, NOT! (Book Review)
Given its childlike orientation and presentation, I Am My Body, NOT! may qualify as the "freshest" of Fresh Thought books, appropriate for children as young as 4 and old as 12.

The 60 page, hard cover book, with beautiful full color illustrations by Canadian artist Marie Litster, is still in its infancy as a commercial product (still limited availability), but it offers an unusual level of wisdom to such a young audience. See for yourself.

Fresh Thinkers Support Kindness

And, to make what would be a great purchase even sweeter, if you purchase a copy of the I Am My Body, NOT! online through Fresh Thought by November 15, a $5 donation will be made to WillFund on your behalf.

Book Review

It is not often that we find books for children that have the depth that you will find in I Am My Body, NOT! from Phaelos (fy-los) Books. Written by Adam Abraham, the reading experience begins like a simple primer for a kindergarten level child. But as you continue on, the book takes off, touching issues and concepts that are relevant to every human being, throughout life.

I Am My Body, NOT!
 'Fresh' Thoughts v. 'Stale' Thoughts
Let's have some fun! If Fresh Thoughts reflect the inner health of the individual, then what do we call "old school" thinking? How about "Stale"?

Below we've included a sample list of Fresh Thoughts, followed (on the "click through" page) by a list of Stale Thoughts. The samples are presented without further comment. If something strikes a chord with you, please share. Start a discussion with other Fresh Thoughters.

If thoughts grew on trees (or bushes)
 Fresh View

Thank you for taking a look at Fresh Thought!

The term "Fresh Thought" identifies a way of thinking that is Eastern and Western, ancient and quite contemporary. It is at home in "New Thought" circles and respectful of religious tradition, but equally at home at the dinner table, at the beach, or at the computer.

In other words, Fresh Thought is applicable wherever we may happen to be, with whomever we are with, and whatever the activity. It is *active,* uncompartmentalized spirituality.

Fresh Thought makes magic moments commonplace, yet they never lose their preciousness. It asks us to allow the best of who we are to emerge: Not who we think that *others* think we are, or want us to be.

It is to that *beginning*... of discovering and expressing our best, that we begin realizing for ourselves the benefits that all great sages and teachers have said were available to us from before the beginning of time.

In each issue of Fresh Thought, we hope to bring you something to ponder, smile about, question, challenge, or ask for more explanation. We also encourage you to share your "Fresh" perspective.

We will also highlight the work, lives, and vision of other Fresh Thoughters among-us. If you have questions or comments, please send them in. We think we have something that will hold your attention and capture the imagination.

If you'd like to help Fresh Thought grow, and are available as an editor, proofreader, graphic designer, or layout artist, you can reach me directly via email by sending to adam@phaelos.com. (There's no budget yet, but we're not gonna sweat the small stuff. :-))

Thank you for this opportunity to get Fresh with you.

Adam Abraham: Publisher of Fresh Thought
Fresh Thought is published by Adam Abraham and Phaelos Books, and is based on the belief that (1) we are creators of our life experience, (2) life transformation is possible for all, (3) abundant living is the result of abundant thinking and feeling, and (4) there's enough abundance to go around through self-creation without "taking away" someone else's.

Fresh Though is about transformation: the birthright, power, and responsibility of each individual, irrespective of racial, ethnic, gender, religious, economic, national, or political orientation.

If you like where this is going, then please do two things: (1) give us your feedback, (2) forward a copy of this e-zine to others, and (3) encourage them to join.
